Undergraduate Applicants:

Eligibility: This program is funded by the National Science Foundation. All participants must be continuing their undergraduate education in the fall of 2013, and the NSF requires US citizenship or permanent resident status.

Application Deadline: February 17, 2013.

How to apply: Submit the following materials via email.

1. A completed application form. (.doc file)
2. A one-page statement of interest or curriculum vitae that includes:
   • information about your background, educational goals and scientific interests,
   • your computer experience, and
   • your experience or interest in working as part of a team.
   • Please describe an experience that has prepared you for this REU program, why you are interested in participating in the WiVaM REU program, or your favorite mathematical/computer science result and why it is your favorite.
3. Two letters of recommendation from faculty that can assess your mathematical/computer science strengths, your potential for research and your ability/potential to work as part of a team. (If your school has limited opportunities for you to participate in a summer undergraduate research program, please have your faculty letter writers indicate this in your recommendation.)

Stipend: Successful applicants will receive a $3,500 stipend and 8 weeks of summer housing. Approximately $350/student is available for travel expenses to the REU. Travel arrangements must be made through the Willamette Travel Center.
