Willamette Valley REU-RET Consortium for Mathematics Research (WiVaM)

Undergraduate Applicants:

Eligibility: This program is funded by the National Science Foundation. All participants must be continuing their undergraduate education in the fall of 2014, and the NSF requires US citizenship or permanent resident status.

Application Deadline: February 17, 2014.

How to apply: Submit the following materials via email.

  1. A completed application form. (.doc file)
  2. A one-page statement of interest or curriculum vitae that includes:
    • information about your background, educational goals and scientific interests and
    • your experience or interest in working as part of a team.
    • Please describe an experience that has prepared you for this REU program, why you are interested in participating in the WiVaM REU program.
  3. Two letters of recommendation from faculty members that can assess your mathematical strengths, your potential for successfully working on mathematical research, and your ability/potential to work as part of a team. (If your school has limited opportunities for you to participate in a summer undergraduate research program, please have your faculty letter writers indicate this in your recommendation.)

Stipend: Successful applicants will receive a $3,500 stipend and 8 weeks of summer housing. Approximately $350/student is available for travel expenses to the REU. Travel arrangements must be made through the Willamette Travel Center.
